We are very sad to let you know that our and your beloved Nicola Cencherle (Nici) passed away on 7 September 2022.
For now this page will stay unchanged in honour of Nici. However for the past 2-3 years Nici was NOT taking anymore bookings and in his place we had Riaan Hunter.

Nicola Cencherle (Tenor – Italian Singer) – known as Nicky (or Nici) was born in Schio, Italy. He immigrated to South Africa with his parents at an early age.
He began singing lessons at age of 18 with Xandre Haagen at Pretoria University and later with Alessandro Rota. He joined PACOFS at the age of 25. His operatic debut was “Tosca” in the role of Cavaradossi. Later he sang Rodolfo in “La Boheme”, Pinkerton in “Madam Butterfly”, the Duke in “Rigoletto”, Alfredo in “La Traviata”, Polione in “Norma”, Jose in “Carmen” and Riccardo in “Ballo in Maschera”.
Returning to Italy in 1971, Nicky won the Teatro Nuovo Competition in Milano and made his Italian debut in “Lucia de Lammermore”, following with “Il Tabarro”, “L’amico Fritz” and “Simone Boccanegra”. During this time Cape Town Opera brought him back twice to sing in “Lucia di Lammermoor” and “La Traviata”.
After seven years in Italy he returned and joined CAPAB where he was a member of the permanent company for 18 years.
His Italian Singers repertoire varies from Opera, Operetta, Neapolitan & Italian songs to popular Ballads. He is an experienced performer who has sang for Radio Concerts, Film & Television. Nicola has enjoyed a wonderful singing career in and around Cape Town, either as a solo performer or in various ensembles.
Nicky possesses a Lirico-Spinto Tenor Voice of true Italian Singer quality and style.
